Lalejin a small town in the Hamedan province of Iran is known as the “World Craft City for Pottery” or “the world pottery capital”. In 2016, this city was registered as the World Pottery Capital with the approval of the World Crafts Council's inspectors. It is the city of both glazed and unglazed Persian Pottery artifacts. The history of pottery in this city goes back to more than seven thousand years ago. Based on the historical documents, this city has been the center of making potteries in all over Middle East during different eras. Today a great number of population of Lalejin practice pottery in domestic workshops and make various decorative and non-decorative earthenware traditionally. By now there are around 1000 active factories in Lalejin producing different kinds of earthenware and similar products that are sold in around 200 shopping centers.

Hamedan is the capital city of Hamedan Province of Iran. The special nature of this old city and its historic sites attract tourists during the summer to this city. The major Hamedan city attractions are the Ganj Nameh inscription, the Avicenna monument and the Baba Taher monument.
